Pirates of the Caribbean

The 4th movie in this franchise has been topping the box office for the past few weeks. Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are back, but
Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are not. Penélope Cruz take a major role as Jack Sparrow’s love interest.

We saw the film, but were not impressed. The other films were amusing, this one was boring, the story did not flow and we were literally waiting for it to end.  Clearly audiences are still flocking to the franchise and we read that Disney already has a script for movie number 5.

Here are the scripts that we have found for the franchise.

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Script (2003)
  2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest Script (2006)
  3. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End Script (2007)
  4. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)   – Let me know if you can find it !!!

Links to 2011 Oscar Nominee Scripts

‘Tis Oscar season and for those of us looking for scripts on the internet it’s a bonanza.  The studios, in their quest for nominations and awards, made their candidates’ scripts available (and in PDF no less !)  This year’s list of screenplay  candidates (original and adapted) almost matches the Best Picture nominee list. The exceptions are Black Swan which did not get a screenplay nod and Another Year which didn’t make it on the best picture list.

The King’s Speech Script

The King’s Speech caught me by surprise. I went to see it expecting it to be about the abdication of King Edward VIII. Well, silly me… the story was much more interesting and provides a good vehicle for both Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush.  However, I got the biggest kick out of the casting of Derek Jacobi as the Archbishop of Canterbury. The inside joke is his famous stuttering role in the BBC series I, Claudius.

Wall Street Scripts

Hey, another sequel – 23 years after the original…. Oliver stone revisits Wall Street. I haven’t seen it yet, but coming back to the topic is apropos for the times. Michael Douglas gets to play and older Gordon Gecko.  Stone co-wrote the original script but does not have scriptwriting credit for the sequel.
